College of Mediators

College of Mediators “Recognised Mediator” status is awarded to mediators who have progressed beyond their initial training and further illustrated their abilities through either the Family Mediation or Community Mediation Competency Scheme. The Family Mediation Competency scheme is currently administered by the Family Mediation Council of which the College is a full member. The College of Mediators administers the Community Mediation Competency scheme, details of which can be downloaded from the menu.

Recognised mediator status is a requirement for Family Mediators undertaking publically funded work.

The College is intending to broaden recognised status to other areas of Mediation and is working in collaboration with mediation providers, trainers and academics in these areas to achieve this.
